- This long weekend trip over the July 4th holiday weekend was wonderful, in spite of what was rather cool and wet weather.

- Alaska's Denali National Park is the most accessible true wilderness in the United States. As large as the state of Massachusetts, it boasts the highest mountain in North America. An even greater attraction to many visitors is the abundant wildlife: grizzly, moose, caribou, dall sheep, wolves, and more.

- Denali National Park is known for being the home of Mt. McKinley, the highest mountain in North America. But the park is just more than just one mountain. The park and surrounding area offer great opportunities for hiking, camping, seeing wildlife, rafting, and experiencing the beauty of this majestic place.

- Denali, the “High One”, North America’s highest peak, formerly known as Mount McKinley. On an exceptionally clear day, Denali visibly beckons from Anchorage. By plane or by rail are good ways to go, but my friends and I went by highway.

- Denali stands alone. Our visit was magical, from a rare full view of the mountain on the drive up to brilliant yellows and pastel hues signaling the end of summer. This mountain is a unique experience unlike any other national park we have visited.

- We thought the North Pole was the top of the world but we were wrong. A point 22,000 feet above the tundra in central Alaska---that’s the “top” of the world---Denali, the Great One also known as Mt. McKinley.

- What is the shyest mountain? Mt. McKinley. It likes to hide its face.

- What do you do over the 4th of July when you live in Interior Alaska and there are 24 hours of sunlight? Well, since you can't enjoy fireworks, we traveled to Denali to view the beautiful scenery and wildlife.

- We took two tours into Denali National Park during our trip to Alaska. Both tours left from the Mt. McKinley Chalet, and both were in school buses. The first tour was a short Natural History Tour and the second was a Tundra and Wildlife Viewing Tour.

- In the summer of 2003 I took a 12-day vacation throughout Alaska, where I fell and flowed down the Tolkat River, came almost within arm's reach of a black bear, and went jogging at 2am while people mowed their lawns.
