- This was a holiday to one of our favourite districts in France. Fine wine, good food, superb views and a dip into France's history.

- The word Bordeaux is symbolic of great French wine, and this is probably the reason most people visit the city and the surrounding region. Make Bordeaux your base and explore its wine country, particularly the village and vineyards of Saint-Émilion.

- Bordeaux is more famous for the surrounding wine country than the city itself, but both offer interesting experiences for the visitor

- You need a car to experience the beauty of the area. Take a well defined map, too. However, getting lost can be considered a wonderful adventure.

- Bordeaux is not my favorite place ever, but it has a couple highlights. For the shoppers, it has the second-longest shopping street in Europe. The two main things that impressed me were the large fountain ("Esplanade de Quinconces") and the Bordeaux Cathedral (which actually had an English-speaking tour guide!).
