Belize is worth a visit because of the efforts to preserve the rain forest, jungle, and Mayan ruins. Get there before Ambergris Caye loses all of its rustic charm.

Omigod, THIS is a true tropical island. There are no cars (except for taxis), and golf carts and bicycles are the main forms of transportation. Relax, forget time, listen to casual reggae music, enjoy local food for WAY cheap and the friendliness of everyone… this is THE place. There is great snorkeling and things to see. I LOVED IT!

Our most recent vacation to Ambergris Caye, Belize, was not what we expected. One positive was that the food was excellent, but we were quite disappointed as you could not snorkel from the shore anywhere and beaches were almost non-existent.

Ambergris Caye is a beautiful island with beautiful people -- very friendly and laid back. I was very surprised at the snorkeling here -- I really expected top standard and was taken aback by the lack of good snorkeling sites.

San Pedro, captiol of Ambergris Caye, is truly rich in culture and has basically remained untouched by the need to Americanize for tourism. A place that "quaint" best describes. Friendly and courteous, these people make you feel at home, and even welcome you to their homes!

This was my first time flying in a small plane; the view was incredible! San Pedro was a small island town, laid back, sunny, and beautiful.

We spent our honeymoon lying on the beach, haggling with vendors, and diving to depths of 150 feet.
