Zihuatanejo is quickly catching on as a new beach town destination on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. During the winter months those Americans lucky enough to have heard of it head to Zihuatanejo for great beaches, excellent food, and warm ocean water.

Don't drink the water! Don't rent a car! Don't bother with an "all inclusive" resort. Food is cheap and so are taxis. Wear comfortable shoes to walk around in. If you can afford it, stay at "La Casa Que Canta" or else just have a meal there... it is beautiful!

I have vacationed in Mexico a number of times, but we always return to Ixtapa/Zihua. To me, this destination gives you the best of two worlds. The luxury of Ixtapa and everyday life of Zihua, which is a short bus ride away. The warm and gracious people and the beauty of the area keep bringing me back to paradise.

Zihuatanejo is a small town adjecent to the Tourist and Time-Share town of Ixtapa. While Zihua does't have all fancy hotels and High prices, it does have a laid back charm of it's own and ALL of the necessities including the airport.

In 1980 we first discovered this comfortable little fishing village only 8km from the busier, more modern and tourist attraction - Ixtapa. We return every 2-3 years, each time with growing disappointment over the changes. But,the good news is Zihua is still a fishing village at its core.
