In July 2008, my husband and I hired a car and toured around the centre of Norway, travelling from Trondheim to Bergen, whilst taking in as many sights as possible. This is a journal of our trip which did on a modest budget in a VERY expensive country!

Oslo is one of Europe’s most amenable capitals. It is relatively small, clean, spacious, and safe. Downtown Oslo has a city centre filled with stately Neoclassical buildings from the late 19th century and some great hotels and restaurants to keep visitors happy.

Geiranger has one of the most beautiful settings in Norway. It is flooded with tourists in the June-August period but in quieter times it is a real gem. The road to the north from here is one of the most spectacular in Norway and shouldn’t be missed.

Situated at far north of Europe, Norway is a world of it's own. Sparsely populated, with great care for nature conservation, it's a perfect place for tranquil holidays. Only problem could be expensiveness, but there are ways to beat that problem as well.
