John Bidwell, pioneer California settler, staked his claim here in the mid-1800s. He purchased Rancho Chico from two brothers and Chico was born. Bidwell Park, the third largest municipal park in the US, is a result of a 2,000-acre grant to the city by John's wife, Annie.

Chico is a great small town in northern California with a lot for people to do. CSU Chico is downtown, and large parks make this a cute town to explore and enjoy.
