- Granada founded 1524 is the oldest city in the Americas. Although it is Nicaragua's fourth largest city, it is the heart and soul of Nicaragua. More tourists visit this city than perhaps any other. It has a rich history offering tourists great restuarants, volcano hiking and tours of Lake Nicaragua.

- The Rio Indio, sharing its mouth onto the Caribbean with the Rio San Juan, is a wildlife and angling haven. We experienced not only the beauty and excitement of the rich tropical jungle waters, but also the historic Central American town of Greytown, in its heyday a very important port.

- El Castillo La Inmaculada Concepción was built in 1671 to protect Spanish dominated Rio San Juan from the transit of pirates from the East and the Atlantic. We were approaching from the West, down the river from Lake Nicaragua and experiencing the gradual changes along this historical tropical waterway.

- Solentiname is an small archipelago situated on eastern Lake Nicaragua. This large freshwater lake creates its own mystical feeling with its mirror like surface giving the individual islands a sense of being suspended in the air, seen strangely hovering with their surrounding myriad of birdlife and vivid tropical color.
