Immense beauty- deep-cut gorges, fantastic roads through the mountains, breathtaking views, wonderful trails. If possible, stay there for more than two full days. Unfortunately, we were only there for a day and a half and didn't get to see half of what we wanted.

Many fellow travelers have told me that they did not love Taiwan--they don't dislike it, they just got tired of the hustle bustle. But good news abound--for those of you with the time or adventurous spirit to venture outside Taipei, the rest of Taiwan is very different.
