Better than Lima, but not as good as Cusco seems to be the general verdict on Arequipa, but I feel this sells Peru's second city far too short.

Arequipa, known as the white city is the 2nd largest city in Peru. It is surrounded by 3 volcanoes, El Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu. Arequipenas are very proud of their city, and they tell you that is the most beautiful in all Peru.

While not as quaint as Cusco, Arequipa has a charm that made me want to stay. Even those not interested in colonial buildings will find alto to interest them.
