- Liverpool is a strange city. 100 years ago it was at the centre of Britain's vast maritime empire. Ocean liners plied to and from America bearing the rich and famous. Now the city is sadly declined, yet it refuses to lie down.

- If there is a city firmly associated with just a few people in the collective imagination of millions of people throughout the world, then it’s Liverpool and the Fab Four, the Beatles.

- Liverpool is the European City of Culture for 2008. I'm visiting here for four months with two preschool kids, and we've seen culture by the bucketload. It might not be the first place you think of to visit in Britain, but its a great place to base yourself. Liverpool has more museums and art galleries than any other UK city outside London, prices are reasonabe, and its a easy journey to dozens of daytrips outside the city.

- Ever since I was in high school and I became infatuated with John Lennon, I have wanted to visit Liverpool. Of course, I never thought that I would, but in April of 2003, I found myself in the Magical Mystery Tour Bus touring The Beatles sights!
