- More than any other place in Switzerland, Zermatt stole my heart. I loved the town, the beauty of the Matterhorn, and of course the wonderful absence of cars!

- Mountainous Switzerland probably packs more visual impact per mile than any other country. Its railroads, which don’t run with quite the precision of Swiss watches but come close, are the best way of seeing it. This Zermatt-St.Moritz excursion is considered one of the world’s 10 most scenic railway journeys.

- Consider Zermatt for fall. Early autumn, summer crowds drop like leaves from the trees. If you’re lucky, blue skies provide a majestic backdrop for Matterhorn pictures.

- Even with a poor snowfall, Zermatt (in fact, most places in Switzerland) offers cultural opportunities that make it a great destination. Hear foreign languages all around you, feast on new tastes, see the Alps, and experience the charm and peace of the mountains.
