- Having completed a fortnight of volunteer work in Madagascar's interior, the inevitable return to the real world was imminent. So, reining in thoughts of further adventures, I spent my last few days of freedom enjoying the pleasures of the paradise island that is Nosy Be.

- Wanting to escape from working life in London and have a different kind of travel experience, I became a conservation volunteer in the Ankarafantsika National Park. The trip offered all of the usual advantages of any stay in a beautiful and interesting place, and much more besides.

- Lemurs, cameleons, birds, rainforests, spiny forests, and gems are but a few of the diverse items you will find in a trip to the worlds fourth largest island. Not only is it an island not frequented by many visitors, it contains incredibly diverse landscapes and climates.

- I went to Madagascar knowing only that it is an immense bio-resource hosting some of the world's most fascinating flora and fauna on what is essentially a micro-continent. Hence my experience was one of total discovery.
