We were lucky enough to find a home exchange to Lyon over Easter Weekend.Lyon is the second largest city of France, known as the Capital of French Gastronomy. Along with many world-famous chefs there are numerous "bouchons", typical traditional restaurants specializing in offal!

Lyon, one of France's finest cities, is a gourmand's paradise and a great start/finish point for travelling in France and Northern Italy.

We wanted to visit Lyon for the history. We had heard that it was France's first "First City." It made my first trip to France most memorable. I can't wait to go back. I might even skip Paris next time.

Lyon is just two hours from Geneva by train and it's a pleasure every time.

Ideal place for a short break. Enough Euro institutions to ensure lots of expensive leisure, but good museums, architecture, and culture for budget travellers as well.

If you live to eat rather than eat to live, then France's third city is the place for you. With more restaurants per square meter than any other place on earth, it's a gourmet's paradise.

Our 3 day trip to Lyon, France, with very little planning, turned out so well that it became one of our favorite destinatons!

My first time in France for a business meeting so I took the opportunity to stay for the weekend and explore a bit of Lyon.
