A visit to Kuwait, though not easy for the tourist to do, is truly an eye-opening experience. You'll be amazed by both the contrasts within Kuwait and between Kuwait and the common perceptions of the Arab world. Worth a brief visit, but not during the summer!

I was sent to live and work in Kuwait for six months in 1999. I arrived during the height of Ramadan, and US and UK bombing of neighbouring Iraq. What an introduction! Not really a "tourist" destination, nevertheless it was a great experience!
