During our 15 day holiday in Ireland, we stayed in self-catering cottages for 10 nights in an attempt to limit the expense of dining out. While more costly than cooking in, we found that dining out did not have to be an expensive proposition.

While on the western side of the Emerald Isle, we took in a full day touring County Clare with Galway Tour Company. Perhaps the county within the Republic of Ireland with the greatest diversity of geography, we enjoyed our time in County Clare.

Our timeshare in Recess (County Galway) served as a perfect base to explore the western region of Ireland for six days. It was also from here that we went to the Aran Islands/Inis Mor (see separate journal).

Inis Mor is the largest of the three Aran Islands off the western coast of Ireland, in County Galway. Rich with history (to 2,000BC) we did a two day overnighter during our Irish Holiday.

There is no way in the world to really do Dublin justice in just 36 hours, but that was all the time we had during our 15 day whirlwind holiday in Ireland. We made the most of the time we had and enjoyed what we did see.

With the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic, the village of Cobh (formerly known as Queenstown) was a day trip and must stop visit during our 15 day vacation in Ireland.

Over the last fifteen years there has been a flurry of building motorways in Ireland mainly radiating outwards from a Dublin hub. The change in the road system has alter car travel in Ireland.
