- Enjoy the ambience of this 100-year-old jail, now serving music and drinks. It was a spirited journey into a haunted building.

- Fresno is not a tourist destination, but you may end up here anyway, so enjoy what you can.

- I have been visiting Fresno for CSU Summer Arts since 1999. It's a month-long Arts Festival with events that are free to enrolled students. There are world-renowned artists who visit and workshop with the students. It's definitely worthwhile. Summer Arts will continue to be hosted at Fresno until summer 2005.

- Fresno has been best known for being the butt of many a Hollywood joke (next to Bakersfield), but it's steadily working its way from cowtown to respectable status.

- The urbane set knows Fresno is very, very funny. Thing is, it's also on the way to a lot of very cool places, and does have a few charms of its own. Best you be prepared in case you need to drive through.

- Fresno was a great place to grow up. Fortunately, I still visit often to see family. It is a shame that many people have the perception that Fresno has nothing to offer the traveler. The truth is that they just haven't gotten the inside scoop on where to go.

- One of the best places in California to live. It's 2 hours or less to do almost anything you want. You name it Skiing, hiking, mountain climbing, biking, boating or just plain going to the beach.
