Today, Vero Beach is an upscale community with a lot to offer. In the '30s and '40s, Waldo Sexton created architecture, without any plans or blueprints, using driftwood, estate auction pieces, demolition pieces, and more. The following are about his creations.

A sampling of car license plates heading south on I-95 in December: Ontario, Vermont, New York, Connecticut, and Quebec. What gives? Last winter, we joined the southbound flock to discover the quiet charms of old Florida for ourselves.

The views are great, and it's a good relaxing spot, but the service is the absolute worst I have ever experienced.

We really loved Driftwood Inn Resort, room E223 right on ocean, great view. We had to leave early to miss Tropical Storm Bonnie and Hurricane Charley, but this didn't ruin vacation. Went to Kennedy Space Center, Blizzard Beach, Disney Vero Beach Resort for dinner. We were there for the meteor shower.

We stayed at the Driftwood Inn, which was interesting. The overall resort was great, but our suite was disappointing. The weather was perfect, the pool was great, and the location was fantastic. We had a relaxing time. There was good shopping across the street and a fantastic Greek food vendor who was exceptional. We did enjoy our stay.

We purchased a vacation escape with very low expectations for the "off season", and were pleasantly surprised with a beautiful vacation.

What can happen if you are not really careful, because what you see is not always what you get. Expected the usual level of RCI resort service and got was a week that "lasted a year". No one seemed to care enough to even respond to our requests.
