- We had the opportunity to visit Calgary in September. It was our first visit to Canada so we didn't know quite what to expect. We found the people very warm and friendly. There was so much to see and do that we had a wonderful time.

- Visiting the Canadian Rockies with our own car gave us the opportunity to tour the region at a leisurely pace, camping or staying in hotels as we chose. It was a comfortable, flexible way to get around. I've chosen to list this journal under "Calgary," since that city was our gateway to the mountains.

- We had just finished a 6-day stay in Lake Louise (reported elsewhere), and decided to spend an afternoon and night in Calgary before heading back home. We had a short but pleasant stay.
