Grenada is usually called the Spice Island. From my experience, it could also be called the Island of Up and Down on account of the hills and cliffs that comprise this small island nation.

I spent a few days in Grenada in 2005, it's a beautiful city. I visited the Masaya Market, Niquinohomo, La Fortaleza de Ocotepe and Leon.

Sir Peter Blake has been shot by pirates? This is horrific, but hang on a minute--my dad is there, and if the skipper and leader is dead, what has become of the crew? So many emotion-provoking questions to be answered! I hope they are okay!

Carriacou’s nickname, "The Friendly Island," might be a bit of an overstatement, but this is the place if you're looking to completely get away from the world. And what's not to love about a 13-square-mile island with over 100 rum shops and only one gas station?

The most beautiful and varied of the Caribbean Islands i've visited, Grenada would be an excellent introduction to the "real" Caribbean--lovely beaches, rainforest, picturesque villages. . .it's all there.
