Located on the southwest coast from St. Petersburg, FL, just south of John's Pass Intercoastal Waterway entrance and Madeira Beach, it has several timeshares, hotels, and motels. The beach is key, with 50 to 200 yards of fine, white shell sand.

We spent a week on the Treasure Island beach at the Penthouse Beach Club and did the normal touristy things, like going to the pier, shopping at Baywalk, and going to Busch Gardens. But we also did some unique things (like a Segway tour), and we ate at a lot of great restaurants!

Beautiful & free in Largo, FL

The Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo are very beautiful and serene. There is also a collection of approx. 24 old homes and buildings built from the 1880's to early 1900's in Florida. This was very interesting, entertaining and free.

Sand Pebbles Resort , FL

This resort had good-sized two-bedroom rooms of very good standard. However, other facilities were average and trash wasn't lifted promptly. It was right on the beach which was a big advantage.
