- While the Hamptons lay claim to NYC's beach lovers, the Catskill Mountains are for those who enjoy the great outdoors. For the past two years, my friends and I have traded a weekend within NYC's urban jungle for a retreat among the blue-green hills of Phoenicia, NY.

- We wanted a leisure week away from home, and the Nottingham Village at Friar Tuck sounded like the place to do it. We got what we expected.

- OK to sleep or veg. Close to ski slopes and golf courses.

- Although a recent member, I went to Friar Tuck with my sister-in-law, a 20 plus year member. She deemed this location the worst resort ever, and I found no reason to contradict her. The only plus was the kindness with which the RCI representative treated us.
