The Plan: After living in Washington for 7 years, I decided it was about time to visit the Olympic Peninsula. So my boyfriend and I decided a 5-day trip at the end of April was in order. How could we have gone so long without visiting (rainy Northwest style) paradise?!?

These are the highlights from our way-too-short roadtrip to the Olympic Peninsula. We will definitely have to go back as there are many things we missed. We basically spent a long weekend – you could easily spend two weeks or more.

If you are ever in Seattle for an extended period of time, a trip to the Olympic Peninsula is a must. It is bounded on the east by Puget Sound, the West by the Pacific Ocean, and the north by the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Just a ferry ride from Seattle or Vancouver, the Olympic Peninsula is one of the most beautiful and unique places on the continent. And you can see a lot by visiting a couple of towns and a few beaches, parks and hot springs.

In the midst of a yearly visit to Seattle, my partner and I took a road trip to the Olympic Peninsula. We spent a lot of time in our rented Prius visiting the most popular sights and trying the amazing seafood.

My sister loves lighthouses and during her recent visit, we made a few road trips to visit some along Washington's west coast. We found lighthouses at quiet spots on the Olympic Peninsula, San Juan and Whidbey islands and in the busy cities of Seattle and Tacoma.
