- Luxembourg City is the capital of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, a tiny but sovereign state to the south of Belgium. I only managed to do a few things during the 2 days I spent there, but I would love to go back.

- The old section of Luxembourg City has been designated a heritage site by UNESCO. The country is small & so is the city but there is much to see and I had no trouble keeping busy during my 3 day visit.

- Luxembourg is unlike any other European city due to the dramatic valley slicing the city in half and the international flavor added by the EU presence. It's definitely worth a day or overnight trip in any European tour.

- Modern and clean, yet sterile, hostel not far from the center of Luxembourg City.

- Imperial Luxembourg. Tiny? Yes. Dull? No. Why, lucky? Just look at the beautiful setting! If you're in the vicinity, take the time to visit.

- We wanted to go on a day trip somewhere, but we didn't know where. We wanted to get out of Germany.

- Needing a place to rest while traveling from Amsterdam to Salzburg, Luxembourg seemed perfect. Originally intending to stay only for an afternoon, I soon realized that I would be staying longer. By the time we arrived, we had alloted two days. It was a perfect place to relax--small enough to be quaint and large enough to be entertaining.

- Stuck in between Belgium, France and Germany, Luxembourg is often seen as a continental version of an itersection - most interrailers tend to stop of for a few hours while they wait for a connecting train. But if you have the time it's well worth taking a quick look around.
