- Sirmione is a romantic, ancient town at the point of the island which juts into Lago di Garda, the largest of Northern Italy's Lakes. There are those who perfer Lake Como, but I prefer the friendliness and imformality of Lago di Garda. Sirmione is the perfect town to serve as a starting point for day trips to Verona, and visiting the small towns which encircle the lake.
