- We took a day trip on the train from Amsterdam to Brussels. If you don't leave with a tummy ache from the chocolate samples & Belgian waffles, you didn't do it right. :) Plus the Grand Place will make you sick - with envy over the architecture!

- I spent a semester abroad in Brussels, Belgium. I absolutely loved every moment of it. It is the perfect combination of history, culture, nightlife, and cuisine all wrapped up with the amazing energy of the EU.

- Ever since my first visit to Brussels in 1991, I have thought that this cosmopolitan city is much underrated. If Paris did not exist, everyone would be talking about how wonderful the city of Brussels is. It is called Bruxelles in French and Brussel in Flemish.

- As the capital of the European Union, Brussels is a thriving modern city that has also managed to retain its medieval charm. While offering all the modern amenities it integrates them into its beautiful streets and squares.

- Brussels is one of the foremost cities in the world for Art Nouveau architecture. My husband and I spent the better part of our trip immersing ourselves in the fin de siecle Art Nouveau buildings in this lovely town.

- This trip was free; transportation was carefree. All I needed was a 5-day pass and my
translateur, and I was off to see the Ardennes, the Meuse, Flanders, and all the rest of
beautiful Belgique.
