Fulfilling a life-long dream to visit mysterious Easter Island (Rapa Nui; Isla de Pascua), I learned that the world's most isolated island has a remarkable, though sometimes tragic, history. The famous moai (stone statues) are extraordinary, but there is more to see and experience.

Easter Island is accessible after a four-hour flight from Santiago. Once on the island, enjoy tours of the mysterious statues, visit the island's two pristine beaches, and soak up the rich island culture. Other activities available include scuba diving and horseback riding.

Equal distance between Hawaii to the north and Antarctica to the south, Chile to the east and Tahiti to the West, Easter Island, Isla de Pascua, Rapa Nui is the middle of nowhere, or the middle of everywhere. Seeing the giant heads for myself was awe inspiring.
