Yacht basin, boats, history, pirates, shops. All in Beaufort, that's Bow Fert, North Carolina. A charming town with friendly folks and a slower pace.

Beaufort is a charming small coastal town. I was there in Oct. so we didnt get to do all the summer type things, like swimming and fishing. We did ride our bikes and we could have kayaked.
Beaufort was settled in 1705 and is the 3rd oldest town in NC. See my review on Bath (that is oldest) I also have a review on New Bern (that is the 2nd oldest city in NC)
Street name reflect the early development of the town.
Ann St for Queen Ann.
Craven St for Earl of Craven.
Pollock for Governor at the time.
Orange for William Prince of Orange. Later King William III.
If you find yourself in this part of NC make sure that you stop and at least visit the town and have lunch and or shop a little bit.

North Carolina's pristine beaches are three country hours from Raleigh by car. They offer a variety of activities ranging from angling to gluttony. Being the oldest colonial spot in America, there is plenty for antiquity lovers including antiquing and seeing historical sights.
