- Juan-les-Pins, a nice resort town on the Côte d'Azur, is famous for its beautiful sandy beaches, connections with the world of jazz (several streets and squares have been named after famous jazz musicians), and lively nightlife much appreciated by night-owls.

- Antibes, a picturesque town on the French Riviera, is one of the most interesting places on Côte d'Azur. We specifically booked a unit at Marina Baie des Anges resort May 18–25 because the 55th Cannes International Film Festival was held at this time.

- We used a friend's villa on the French Riviera. Four of us enjoyed touring the nearby villages in our leased car, even though we found the signage to be poor in many cases and the "roundabouts" daunting! By the end of our 3-week trip, we were pros!
