- We visited again this year, Crete being our favourite destination, to see some places not previously explored. This second Crete journal gives me the opportunity to describe these new places, give updates on some familiar ones, and to present some new photographs.

- The time was right for a short break and Crete was the chosen destination. According to the brochures, it had everything we sought - sun, good cuisine, and a laid-back attitude towards life.

- Crete, the southernmost island in Greece, is endowed with long stretches of beaches and cliffs on its dramatic coastline, and massive mountains and plains in the middle. Thanks to its warm climate, Crete is a perfect place for tourists who are sun hungry — especially those from Western and Northern Europe.

- After quitting an underpaid job, I moved to Crete, ostensibly to meet up with an American friend who was living and working near Rethymnon. I ended up staying for seven months, experiencing the many personalities of Crete, the largest and southernmost Greek island.

- In two wonderfully sunny weeks we visited many lovely medieval towns with narrow mysterious alleyways, frolicked in the warm blue sea, sampled tasty dishes and wines. We admired the countless artifacts of antiquity and were awed by the majestic mountains, formidable castles and solemn monesteries of wonderful Crete.
