- Although we didn't 'do' the nightclubs there were a number of night bars that we tried out.

- Santa Maria is best known for its superb beaches, the coulourful sea and some decent beach side restaurants.

- Santa Maria is the livliest place on the island and the heart of the tourist industry, but it still seems like a small local village

- It's a small island with few roads so we opted for an organised tour of the island - it took all of half a day!!

- Having travelled to Sal island over 12 years ago I wanted to go back to Cape Verde and discover more of the islands. My main purpose was to climb mount Fogo for charity (Cape Verdean society based in Wales)and to attend the archipelago's most prestigious music festival.

- Have just returned from an inspection trip to Sal, Cape Verde Islands. The flight was from LHR to Lisbon then onto Sal, but there are direct flights starting from October 2006 from Birmingham and Gatwick. I highly recommend the trip: beautiful weather, people, food and atmosphere, and good accommodations. 10/10.

- Cabo Verde is a nice place to go, but it is nothing like the sea and weather of the Caribbean I visit very often. Isla do Sal has 8km of white sandy beach and it's very windy, especially in January and February, so it's the preferred place chosen by kite surfers.

- For our honeymoon we chose an exotic destination from which we wanted to return with more than a tan. And we did! On the Cape Verde islands we enjoyed ourselves on local beaches, playing volley with the village children, climbing a volcano, hiking and enjoying the best tuna ever.
