- It is perfect right now. The warm, sunny weather is not hurting the snow. It is still dry powder on the groomed runs, and there are still some tracks to be laid out in the trees.

- I had never been to Alpine Meadows before... I can guarantee that won't be the last trip! The sun shone bright all day, and though the snow slushed out early, the setting alone made for a picture-perfect day. No lift lines added to my enjoyment.

- A week at North Lake Tahoe resorts was only slightly tainted by a Philly Eagles loss. My ski bud and I went back to North Tahoe after a 2001 trip to South Lake Tahoe. This trip was Sugar, Homewood, Alpine Meadows, North Star, and Squaw.

- We were looking forward to all of the snow that Tahoe just got, but we were still in for a big surprise. The snow was in abundance. They'll be hitting the trails till July!

- As I own a home on the west side of Lake Almanor and there was a TON of snow last week, I decided to get the first of my season's runs on my snowboard at Coppervale Hill.

- I'm usually not a big fan of the hyped-up resorts such as Vail, Aspen, Whistler, etc., but anything you have heard about Squaw Valley . . . believe it, as it's probably true. There is great consistent snow, excellent terrain, and wide-open areas.
