Zimbabwe is such a beautiful country, packed with charming, welcoming people with much to offer. Put it on your wishlist, if not now, then certainly once its troubles are calmed - obviously Vic Falls, but also Great Zimbabwe, Harare, the Eastern Highlands, the national parks...

Victoria Falls is known as the land of thundering smoke. The City of Victoria Falls exists for the tourists who come to see the Falls. The tourists these days are few but those who come are welcomed and appreciated.

Zimbabwe is one of the most beautiful places on earth. It is also blessed with perfect weather most of the year and an abundance of wildlife. It is probably best known for Victoria Falls, a dramatic display of Nature's raw power and exquisite beauty.

While Victoria Falls, which lies on the boarder of Zambia and Zimbabwe, is not classified as a Natural Wonder of the World (Niagara Falls is the closest natural site with which you could compare this place), it is one of nature’s most magnificent treasures.

I didn't actually take this trip to Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls), but I gave it to my daughter and her husband. They're missionaries in South Africa and I felt they really needed a break. What a great surprise for them!

The township was a little intimidating but did not stop me from walking from the hotel to the shops or markets. There was a tourist office in town where you can book whitewater rafting, bungee jumping, flight, and game driving to begin with.

A chance booking that allowed us to visit the Falls and book up for white water rafting! We must be British and brave. The locals are very friendly and despite the horrible and very realistic news we're hearing from Zim we had no problems and had a great time.

Out of nowhere, the enormous spume from the falls envelopes everything in its proximity, creating a mini-oasis in the otherwise arid desert. Despite the poverty endured, the hospitality extended to us was fantastic. Our only regret was that we didn't explore more of this fantastic country.
