The mountains around Huaraz are the most interesting in Peru. The city itself was destroyed during an avalanche many years ago, so not very interesting.

Known as the Switzerland of Peru, the cordillera Blanca (White Cordillera) and the whole Callejon de Huaylas (made by the valley of the Santa river) is famous for having the most beautiful landscapes and the highest mountains in Peru.
