- We went for another weekend getaway to the Fairfield Alexandria. This time, we had a two-bedroom lockoff. Originally, when this trip was booked the rest of the family was coming, but when they were unable to, I was unable to get a smaller unit.

- We go to Fairfield, Alexandria, frequently for weekend getaways. We love this resort. We have stayed in both 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom units and they are very well-maintained and spacious. It's in a great location to go sigtseeing in Washington or shopping in Old Towne.

- Grab your earmuffs, winter coat & umbrella, January is a great time to be a tourist in the Washington, D.C.-Alexandria area. No long lines, no crowded metro trains, take your time at the exhibits.

- Alexandria is a town that is bustling with activity and is right on the outskirts of Washington, D.C. There are chain retail stores and quaint specialty shops lining the cobbled streets.

- Old Town Alexandria is a charming riverside community brimming with history. The abundance of stores, cafés and restaurants give this Washington DC community a "hip" feel that set it apart from the blandness of many of DC's Northern Virginia suburbs. A must-do for those visiting Washington, DC.

- While all of Northern Virginia is one big suburb of Washington DC, Old Town is my favorite one to visit. It just has old colonial charm, and it oozes history. Plus, you can look accross the Potomac and get a great view of the Washington Monument and capital city.
