An overview of the Bernese Oberland in the "off-season" - the area is quiet, prices are lower, but the scenery is first class all the way.

A 2-day getaway to the Bernese Oberland is truly an experience of superlatives—the longest cogwheel train in Switzerland, Europe's highest train station, and possibly the best panorama of the Alps.

While on a business trip to Geneva, I decided to head to Grindelwald to check out the place I know best from some summer excursions. A fantastic sledge ride and great gastronomical experience made my 18-hour stay a short but intense experience.

For me, the most beautiful place which suits all criterias is Grindelwald, Switzerland. Around this place are plenty of big mountains like the Shilthorn and the Top of Europe Jungfrau. At the top, there is a restaurant. This one turned all the way in one hour, so you can see everything.
