- "What a pretty garden!" said Louis XIV of Alsace, and if Strasbourg is anything to go by, I’m inclined to agree. Very pretty indeed, with its half-timbered houses, its spectacular cathedral, its quiet canals and its utter charm.

- Strasbourg, home of pâté de foie gras, is great for culinary adventures. Our hotel, unfortunately, wasn’t as fabulous as the restaurants we dined in.

- Strasbourg is an intriguing mix of old and new, French and German, young and old.Rather than suffering an identify crisis, the city blends all the pieces together to create an atmosphere of joie de vivre at its best!

- Important in European government, Strasbourg is dripping with charm. Quays overhung
with blossoms, UNESCO World Heritage buildings, historic sites to keep one busy a
week, and Alsatian food are reasons to go. French novelists went for the Cathedral; we
went to walk the quays.

- If you want to visit Germany without leaving France, give Strasbourg a try. This beautiful city seems more like its neighbor Germany than France, and the street signs and menus are mostly bilingual, as are many of the people.

- France's prestige is not lost in the smaller city of Strasbourg; instead it is made more accessible, more affordable, and so very beautiful.

- From our place in western Germany we took a day trip to Strasbourg, France, just across the border. We saw the main parts of the 'old town' and a few museums (of many).
