- Rapid City, named after the fast-flowing creek that runs through it, the second-largest city in South Dakota with around 60,000 people, isn’t a bad place to take a breather. It's 22 well-maintained parks and recreation areas, renovated, active downtown, and nearness to the Black Hills don’t hurt either.

- This trip to western South Dakota was my first and hopefully not may last. My family was thrilled to visit some of the landmarks that made this country great. Mount Rushmore is a must see.

- My family's main purpose in South Dakota was baseball. We ended up like total tourists, spending our time and money on ridiculous tourist things. It was still a lot of fun, and as much as a tourist trap as this city is, it’s nestled in the most beautiful natural setting in America.

- My family and I (9 of us total) took a road trip from Michigan to South Dakota. We stayed at the Badlands but stopped in at Rapid City after visiting Wind Cave.
