The slogan of "white city" is lost in history, the city is not THAT white anymore, but it's totally worth visiting in search of culture, food and a nice (but extremely hot) place to stroll in the evening.

This is a very colonial city, full of culture and it´s roots deeply wet in Mayan culture.

Having read about Merida, I was anxious to experience the legacy of the Mayans through the fruits of excavated and restored sights. Flying from Mexico City to Merida, the majestic mountains and waterways that cut through the terrain were breathless. The tours made the 'white city' bearable and the historical escape authentically appealing.
