- Mix seaside and mountains, and add a balmy coastal climate and warm south-facing beaches. Throw in gleaming, whitewashed buildings; terracotta tile; and wrought-iron ornamentation, around which subtropical plants grow as if possessed. Infuse with arts, culture, and outdoor dining. Spice it up with diverse ethnic mix = PARADISE!!!

- On the way to LA we stopped for quick overnight in Santa Barbara. We had dinner and a night's stay. Nothing much, but Santa Barbara is always worth the stop.

- Santa Barbara is a great small seaside town north of (but a world removed from) LA.
Santa Barbara is between the Pacific Ocean and Santa Ynez Mountains, in a beautiful setting with fantastic climate. With a place so beautiful with such great weather, people are very active outdoors.

- Santa Barbara is 90 miles north of Los Angeles, located on the Pacific coast where the mountains meet the sea. I've lived in this paradise that seems like a world away from the noise and pollution of Los Angeles.

- Santa Barbara is relaxing walks on the beach, whale watching, wine tasting, Spanish Missions, architecture, gourmet food, olives and mountain hikes. We rented a car and toured several wineries – Fess Parker is our favorite. Shop for gifts at Trader Joe’s or in a shop on State Street.
