Considering I went at the beginning of summer, it was not that hot. It was a must-see place. The scenes were amazing. The waterfalls were gorgeous. Yosemite Falls was gorgeous and drenching.

Our sole destination for this day trip out of Fresno was the Awahnee Main Dining Room. We have been to Yosemite several times, but had never treated ourselves to the Awahnee. It was time to do so, and we were well received.

An August weekend in Yosemite may not sound very appealing for a couple seeking beauty and solitude, but my husband and I enjoyed a lovely, quiet weekend outside of the Valley in Northern Yosemite.

Spring is a fantastic time of year to visit Yosemite. The weather is perfect for hiking; the crowds haven't yet arrived; and best of all, the waterfalls are breathtaking! We traveled with our parents (healthy seniors) and our kids (11 and 14).
