- Casa Grande means “big house” in Spanish. The town is named after nearby Casa Grande ruins, a large ancient slowly decomposing dwelling built by the Huhugam. Casa Grande (the town), strategically located between Phoenix and Tucson, is a hot spot for developers and is booming.
