"Salta the Beautiful" had honestly earned its nickname due to its amazing colonial architecture, pleasant climate, and surrounding green peaks. Placed in northwestern Argentina with the Andes Range at its west and the Bolivian Highlands at its north, it is in a key position for anyone visiting the area.

This train climbs up to 14,000 feet. When it does not run, there is a very interesting alternative: A traffic van tour at half the price, in which you will see llamas, vicuñas, guanacos, condors... and precolombian ruins.

Salta is one of the provinces I most enjoy, for its fantastic scenery, but specially for its people. They will always give you a warm greeting. The center of the city, around the 9 de Julio square has valuable historical constructions. Let`s have a look at them.

I have been four times to Cachi, and enjoy every minute of that tour. Together with Iruya (Salta), Humahuaca (Jujuy), and the Train to the Clouds, these are the four tours you should not miss when you visit Salta.

If you are looking for the best meat in Salta, combined with a fashionable environment, La Posta may be the best option. It is just half a block away from the main square. Their business menu is not expensive.
