- We wanted a different kind of vacation, and we got it. We weren't sure what to expect, or even if we would be able to handle a narrowboat with no previous experience. We had such a great time, we would recommend it to everyone while they're still young and healthy.

- Although Nottingham is not my home city, I've lived near to it for most of my working life. It's a great city and not at all like it has recently been described in the media. The shops, theatres, and restaurants are all easily accessible.

- Torvill and Dean, Brian Clough, D.H Lawrence, The Stereo MCs, lace, Players cigarettes, Raleigh bicycles, Jesse Boot, and the Hood fella. Nottinghamshire, deep in the middle of the country, is home to the Redhead and I too. Here are some of the good bits.

- Those on the Robin Hood trail will, no doubt, find Nottingham Castle something of a disappointment as little now remains of the medieval keep where King John and the Sheriff of Nottingham plotted against their arch enemy, but those willing to dig a little deeper can still find some surprises.

- On the southwestern edge of Nottingham’s city limits lies South Broxtowe, a series of towns and villages with their own unique taste and feel that can be rewarding for those willing to venture a little beyond the normal tourist trail.
