I wrote 3 articles for Simonseeks early in 2011 outlining our recent trip to Petra - unfortunately the site went under before I got paid and published. I have broken up the articles into around a dozen separate pieces for igougo.

In early 2011, I wrote four articles for simonseeks.com - unfortunately the site went belly up before I could publish them. Rather than keep them languishing on my hard drive, bits and pieces will be posted on igougo.

So you saw Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and watched him ride his horse through the Canyon of the Crescent Moon and burst out beneath a vast temple carved into the solid rock wherein he found the Holy Grail. Then, some years later, as you find the movie on TV while you're flipping through channels, your friend tells you "Oh, that's not a set, they actually filmed that somewhere in the Middle East." Then, if you're like me, your blood begins to tingle and you get that subtle itch that you know WON'T go away until you yourself tromp through that selfsame canyon and see that selfsame temple (and perhaps search for that selfsame grail!).

There is a tour company called Jordan Experience Tours that arranges nights at Bedouin tents for BBQ and Bedouin dancers. You have to try it, and also try the organized tour to Wadi Rum with an overnight stay in the middle of the desert.
