Fountain Square is a small historic district just outside of downtown Indianapolis. Located at the intersection of Virginia Avenue at Shelby and Prospect Streets, this area is riddled with antique shops, art galleries, restaurants, and an authentic 1950s diner. During the day, this lovely area is reminiscent of downtown Mayberry. It conjures up images of mom and apple pie and is a pleasant place to spend the afternoon with family and friends. At night, the sky lights up, and this quiet little area transforms into a hot spot for guys and dolls ready to tear up the floor to the big-band sounds of Benny Goodman and Glen Miller, as well as the modern swing sounds of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. They offer live music on Friday nights and even teach a few dance steps so that everyone can have a good time. Every weekend is a swing weekend, and there's duckpin bowling just upstairs! This is one hotspot that shouldn't be missed.
