It's been a while since we went, so bare with me as I try to remember.
Activities:
On Mother's Day we went white water rafting. Any outfitter will do. They have all level classes available in the area. Of course this was our first time there, so we took the easiest trip.:)
Toured the Cabbage Patch Babyland Museum. Worth your time if you have children. You walk through this replicated Hospital nursery full of Cabbage Patch dolls, done Disney Style! You can even adopt one of the all cloth dolls for a pretty penny. Very well done. The kids loved this, but so did I.
We hiked Brasstown Bald Mtn. If you've never touched a cloud before, hike this. There's a nice observatory at the top.
Don't go by the Nora Mill Granary without stopping. I bought one of the prepackaged french bread mixes for the heck of it, and it turned out to be the best tasting bread I have ever eaten.
I can't remember the name of the place, but we ate at a waffle restaurant on the east side of town. Looked very nice and was crowded, so we thought it would be something we would want to try: NOT. Very pricey and I can make better homemade waffles myself. A lot of hype in this town, but still nice considering the location.
We walked in and out of almost all the shops, one shop was demonstrating how to turn sheep's wool into thread. Pretty cool.
Sorry I don't have pictures, Wal-Mart ruined my roll. :(
Drove around all over and found a cute Country Store that served food. You could sit in or outside on a wrap around porch. Great scenery. Where you ask? Beats me, but I bet you could ask the locals and they could tell you. I think we found it in one of the brochures from the Visitor's Center.
May was off-season, so it was very peaceful but still warm enough to wear shorts in the day and jeans in the evening.
Panned for Gold-kind of cheesy, but you got to do it at least once. I had fun. Check the brochures for the different spots.
