New Smyrna Beach is amazing. The sand is white, the water is blue, and the mood is always peaceful. The water is also a great temperature by 10am. This is quite possibly my favorite beach in the country. This is a popular vacation spot for families and couples, as the beach is so amazing. Unlike many vacation-spot beaches, New Smyrna Beach is less crowded and a more relaxing spot.
I went to the beach every day of the vacation.
In the mornings, I went down to the beach and walked at the edge of the ocean, where the remains of the waves could barely splash my feet. The sunrises at New Smyrna Beach were gorgeous - the sky changed from blue to purple to magenta to pink to yellow to orange to red before the sun finally rose completely. I enjoyed the solitude of walking the beach in the mornings, as I was often the only one doing so. This was a great place to reflect on life and everything on my mind. The sound of the waves crashing on the shore cleared my mind of its normal thoughts and allowed me to dig deep and do some real soul-searching.
Later in the day, I would venture to the beach with my boyfriend, Patrick. It was so much fun to watch him in the water. It brought out his inner child, and he was laughing like a little boy as he jumped waves and played around. We also attempted boogie boarding at the beach. Many of our attempts were hilarious, consisting of us being knocked over by waves, getting mouthfuls of salt water, and running into each other on our boards. This experience provided many laughs, as well as unforgettable memories.
Once dark outside, we returned to the beach for romantic walks. Barefoot and holding hands, we walked along the shore, our feet getting splashed by the chilly ocean water. Oftentimes, we were the only one on the beach, which was nice. We walked and talked under the beautiful moonlight; it was a perfect end to our days of vacation. The best part of the night was when we got to the path back to the condo, where we shared a romantic kiss before returning to our condo.
The beach was a fantastic part of this vacation in paradise and created many fantastic memories, and it was a great place to clear my mind.

There are several antique shops and unique places to visit downtown. Several state and national parks in the area. Kennedy Space Center right down the road. This is more of a relax at the pool or beach type place.Close

We arrived Friday and checked out the local area. That Saturday we drove to Cape Canaveral to visit family we have there and spent the day with them.
Sunday we drove to Daytona and went shopping at the flea market, which was very big. Monday for the holiday our cousins came to our place and spent the day with us.
Tuesday we went to Orlando and went to the Island of Adventure. A lot of walking and a lot of things to do, you can not go through the whole thing in one day. Wednesday we scoped out the local shopping area and saw the sites for the last day. Thursday we just relaxed at the resort.
We had a very nice time and will definitely go back.

The area is a great location. There is a lot to do within walking distance. You are a 15-minute car ride from Daytona. You are less than an hour from Disney.

When we got to Orlando, I had no idea where some of the best beaches to go were. Thankfully, my in-laws live just outside of Orlando and told us about New Smyrna Beach. It's not one of those overly crowded places with tourists, in fact, it was pretty much all locals (as far as I could tell). We got to drive onto the beach, park and walk only feet to the water. It was nice because we were able to bring our snacks with us and not have them melt in the sand or even worse: get sand in our sandwiches. There is a great little barbecue called HEAVENLY BBQ at 203 S. Atlantic Avenue that serves up beef sandwiches; you can smell the beef roasting outside for miles! They are very, very affordable and the portions are huge! Sandwich, Pickle & Chips for only a couple bucks! If you're going to Orlando, you definitely need to go to New Smyrna Beach -only a 1.5-hour drive from downtown Orlando. You will fit in with all the locals and have a very enjoyable day!Close
