The Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Bureau has a webpage that is well-organized and very informative, with lots of links. Do double-check the information, because some of the information (prices and such) may not be up to date, but they can give you a good idea of the range of costs for the activities, and in many cases they have a link to the ‘official’ site where you can find the updated information. They also can ''warn'' (or alert) you to upcoming events. You can search a window of time -- to cover the whole time you will be in the area. You will want to be aware of many events since they often take place in the streets, rerouting traffic. This can be very annoying if you don’t plan for them -- to either attend or avoid. If you have the time, most are very worth attending, if only to bring back the feeling of ''small town America''. As you look thru their pages you can and view the different entries, you can ‘add to itinerary’, which results in a page that you can print, and even e-mail to multiple addresses. Unfortunately there is not yet the capability to save the itinerary, so if you leave the pages you will have to start from scratch, but even with it’s limitations it is a great resource. Another page to check is the one for the Chamber of Commerce . They have much of the same information, but also include a section for relocating that has information that is not easily found elsewhere. At this time many of the other links seem to be ‘broken’ so the Visitors bureau is the most informative right now. You might also want to check out the Chapel Hill News . It Is a local paper that is only published on Wednesdays and Sundays, but it can give you a feel for the best feel of the town before you arrive. If you want ‘big town newspapers’ then you can look at Raleigh News and Observer or the Durham Herald Sun. These pages are worth checking out before you come to the area! Close

Elvisfest is a party that goes on for 2 nights at two bars with bands playing rockabilly, psychobilly, punk, and honkytonk. To get paid, the bands must cover at least two Elvis songs. The event is always the weekend closest to January 8 every year. The venues for the show are the Local 506 (a bar with a main calling is music) and the sports bar next door. Close
