Everyone receives an info pack when they arrive at the resort. We recommend that you pay particular attention to the warning about scratch cards.
We needed a map and were approached by a guy near the marina who said we could have one of his maps if we scratched a couple of cards. We said that we owned a timeshare, were very happy and did not want any more.
However, he assured us that this was "nothing to do with timeshares" but we could win €400, €500 Thomson Holiday voucher or €600 Dixons voucher. We revealed four images which qualified for the top prize which we had to collect. We were assured that this would take "no more than 1 hour" but they wanted to show us a new holiday opportunity. We were persuaded to go into the office where the door was locked behind us.
We chatted for a while - it was all very friendly - and then as the hour passed by, we began to get uneasy and asked when we were going to see this "holiday opportunity" and collect our prize. We had to complete a form and repeated that we were happy with RCI and the points we owned. The agent then collected a key and we walked over to the marina where he suggested we go into a local bar to buy him a drink! At that point we objected and he said that we were not going to win anything because we wouldn't want what they had to offer. We pointed out that we had gone with an open mind but he became abusive and shouted at us so we walked off. He followed us, but we are fairly fit, and soon lost him in the marina area.
Since this experience, we realise that they wanted us to sell them our points. We have contacted both Dixons and Thomsons on our return and they confirm that this is a huge CON TRICK.
Have nothing to do with any of these people ... we were lucky to escape in under 2 hours and didn't lose anything but a sunny morning. However, others have lost much more than that as they have been persuaded to part with their timeshare or points and a great deal of money.

Selwo park is a good couple of hours out. It is a small park but you get good views of all the shows. You can take your own food in and this is probably better than whats on offer. Also there is a play park so the kids can be occupied in between the shows.
Sealife was good but when we visited they were modenising so it was only half open - check first before paying to go in.
Fun train that goes around the town and harbour was good and lasted about 20 minutes.
Opportunities to visit further a field either by local bus or by hire car.
There was also a cable car that took you to the top of the mountain behind the town that would give you far reaching views of the area.

I can't remember the name of the other two restaurants we ate at, but this info will point you in the right direction:
Chinese/Cantonese restaurant - approximately two doors down from El Mero. Myself and 10 friends ate at this Chinese restaurant and ordered the usual selection of appetisers and main dishes accompanied by six bottles of wine! The food was delicious and we couldn't believe our eyes when the total bill came to the equivalent of £55! £5 per head, including the drink! Needless to say we left a large tip - definitely worth a visit.
Italian restaurant - situated on the outside 'rim' of the marina (i.e. it does not look onto the marina). But this restaurant's food is equally delicious as the others we visited. The service was fantastic too.

I had the best seafood I have ever had here. All the best restraunts are down a slope leading to the beach and are halfway between the beach and the pavement. If you can't find them, follow your nose toward the smell of fish on a bbq. The prices are very reasonable. If you like mussels, get them as a starter, but make sure you're hungry because the portions are huge. Close

Puerto Banus was definitely worth the cost of the taxi fare. We headed for the supposedly 'red light district' close to the marina. There were lots of people dressed up really posh in the bars we passed on the way. When we arrived there, it was a cobbled street with a series of small bars. We had a fantastic night moving from bar to bar -- we didn't see anything untoward, so I have no idea if it really was a red light district -- we were just told this by someone. The bars are open till 6am.Close
