Now this is a lovely place. We visited the Ranieri Palace and although it started to rain, we ran from one place to the other. We took a guided tour through the city, which gave us an overview of the area. We were driven past the Casino, but we could not stay there, as we had to return to our accommodations in St. Raphael. The church beside the Palace was lovely and we were limited a bit because of the rain. Unfortunately, we did not see the changing of the guard, which I hear is super. The views are die for though and I shall post some at a later date. We walked in their downtown and it was just like other European towns.
We visited Cannes and it was as one sees it in the movies. We walked a lot there and were seeing gorgeous scenes, small narrow streets very hot weather, but it takes you back in time and one can't stop from imagining how the French live – it’s a very sedate and easy-going life.
We also visited Antibes, which is a ritzy place with those beautiful big yachts -- looking at then, one foams at the mouth.
We arrived in Nice and stayed for the day. Well, Nice is like Paris -- busy and on the dirty side -- but it is an exciting city. There were many stores to shop and many restaurants to eat at.
It is worth a trip to Grasse where they make French perfumes, and this is perfume that is only made for the French and its very floral, but one can see the contraption that was used in the olden days to extract the juice of the flowers. It is worth going on a tour to see the different stages to turn it into a perfume.
All in all, it was a wonderful trip and should be done twice. Lovely sea and swimming in it is fantastic.
